Reflection is imperative. We learn from the past. As I grow older I have more time to use this mirror to query what I would not have questioned when younger. It aids me. I develop and learn. It informs my work with an appreciation that has history and memory and personal maps and artefacts. It defines my boundaries and my limits. But it also gives me new passports. It fires my internal powers and makes me the best I can be. (This double exposure is from the sequence View from the Hill which examines the lives of older men.)

C is the start of Confidence. Of Certainty and Care: but also, Chutzpah and Combustion. Photographers make pictures for many reasons but always hope to communicate through their creativity. And possibly challenge the viewer to think as well. This picture uses maritime flags to signal important messages silently over a metaphorical or real distance. Across a void, where a voice will not carry. It is taken on the coast where land becomes sea and the difference is stark. C begins many important things for an artist but confidence is the key to starting to ask questions ... It can be a revelation ... (This picture belongs to the series Say Something which was a response to the inability of young and old to communicate over Brexit)
