Fair

Rejection after rejection. Marquis de Sade would have loved being a photographer in this day and age. I find it difficult because who am I to throw more of my mediocre imagery on that huge energy-absorbing pile? The disappointment never goes, but it wears off in time. And then I heard one artist talk about what is fair in life.

If there are hundreds of entries in a competition, then it would be fair that everyone wins once, right? Life, unfortunately, isn’t fair. But it made me think of one thing: Think of all the other individuals that didn’t make it either. They worked on this very hard too, and among them were probably some world-class photographers. Fair right? Perhaps you even beat some of them.
